Stickman vs Andy Goldsworthy Mash Up!

This week Year 1 did a little more work on Andy Goldsworthy, as well as draw and paint their own Stickman portraits using watercolours.

First we practised drawing The Stickman, remembering to put his bark clothes on trying to show a woodgrain pattern. We tried to show the Stickman running.

Rose was very proud of her Stickman!
As were we all!

When we went into the hall, we each drew our Stickman on A5 paper with a pencil before going over our lines with a black Sharpie. We then used some watercolour paints to shade him in. We took the paint from the blocks and mixed it in our palettes, just like real artists!!

Here are some of our finished results after they had dried and were ready to go up in our Stickman Portrait Gallery in class.

Having learnt a little more about Andy Goldsworthy in class, we each attempted a plasticine model using the typical shapes he does - arches, stacking stones, egg shapes for example. Some of us remembered the work we did last week, reflecting our models in a mirror. Finally, when we were happy with our model we took a picture of it on our iPads.
