Digital Alphabet Challenge!

This week in Camera Club, our intrepid Year 3 Super Snappers put their observational skills to the test, looking for objects that resembled the 26 letters of the alphabet. If they couldn't see a letter, they tried to create it using any materials that they could find.
They DID manage to create an entire alphabet which will be appearing in a large framed picture soon, until then, here is a taster of some of the letters they found.....an inventive bunch!!

William Morris Inspired String Printed Wallpaper!

This week Year 4 looked at the influence of William Morris on modern designs, specifically the popular, retro 'dandelion/wild flower' motifs used on wallpaper.

We played a warm-up game to get us in the zone and thinking about simple motifs, then we designed our own in our sketchbooks.

We transferred our design onto an A5 cardboard tile, put glue,(some classes used PVA, others pritt stick), over our pencil lines and stuck down our string.

Here are some of our finished printing tiles (the warm up game that inspired some of our designs is in the first picture):

We then applied different shades of green paint onto the string and tried out our first print in our sketchbooks.

We then created our first wallpaper sample!

Printing became infectious...here are some from another Year 4 class!
