First they thought about their nature-themed designs in their sketchbook.
Then they transferred these ideas onto a square polystyrene tile.
Once they had 'gouged out' their pattern on their tile, they applied the very sticky black printing ink with a roller, before turning over their tile and printing it onto brightly coloured paper. As their pattern was gouged out, the ink didn't go on this part, so that remained the colour of their chosen paper, while the rest of their print went black.
Hot off the (printing!) press - they took ages to dry!
Our first prints, with our printing tile.
When our prints FINALLY dried, we stuck one in our sketchbook alongside our original idea and the other is going to form part of a wallpaper feature wall in class - William Morris would be proud!
I love printing it was quite messy though

ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it, but yes....it can be pretty messy! Which printing method did you prefer - the one above or this weeks string printing? Why?
