Inkyfingeritis!

There has been an outbreak of inkyfingeritis in Year 1. It started earlier in the week on South Site, but rumour has it it could spread to North Site in the near future!!
The symptoms: one black, inky index finger.

The cause: fingerprinting (in particular the wings on our bees)as this week it was bye, bye ladybirds, hello, honeybees in Art!

Before we started we all had a good look at the amazing patterns that are literally at the ends of our fingers.

Then we learnt about the equipment we were going to use....

... before having a practice, creating a variety of animals.

Then we got busy with our honeybee pictures, making sure we all had some colourful flowers to attract the bees. Once we finished fingerprinting our scene, we used some fine felt pens, (very carefully), to add stripes, antennae, stems and other details.

The very last thing we did was use black ink for the bees wings.
We tried to use the smallest amount, touching the ink pad VERY lightly.....but we STILL all got inkyfingeritis!
It was worth it though!

As predicted, the outbreak of inkyfingeritis did indeed spread to North Site where all of Year 1 were infected!

It was worth it though as some great work was produced by one and all, here are just a few examples....

The ladybirds are back!!!!

Time for creating our bee pictures....
