Year 3 in Moving Image Magic!

Having looked at ways of making their pictures show movement through using montage and drawing action poses, Year 3 really got their pictures to move today with the help of some Science!

The children all made thaumatropes by drawing different images on either side of the disc. Our brain holds onto an image briefly, but if another arrives quickly it merges it together with the first one to create a single image.

In this example there is a glass of drink on one side of the disc, a straw on the other - when the disc spins the straw goes ino the drink.....or at least our brain is tricked into thinking it does!

All the children took their thaumatropes home, so we hope all their family and friends enjoyed their magic show!
