Sizzling Still Life

After some sketching practise, (see our efforts in the past post: http://artatmg.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06/super-sketchers.html ), Year 2 focused on using hot and cold colours to create their still life pictures.
This also linked this in with their Geography work on climates as well as their Explorers topic as they looked at Scott (cold polar regions) and Cook (warm Australasia regions).

We learnt about the horizon 'excuse me' line, as well as using lines going in different directions to try and distinguish between the wall and table that the objects were sitting on. Having sketched our still life scene on one side, we copied it on the other, before using oil pastels to shade in our objects - some great examples of blending colours here - well done all of you!
