Ready, TEDDY, Go!

Well Art@MG's New Year Resolution was to catch up with all the Art that has already happened, then update this blog weekly, so you get a snapshot of all our Arty goings-on....as they happen! We're nearly on track...here is what Year 1 have been up to in the last couple of weeks.

Year 1's new topic is TOYS! We're going to be focusing on teddies during our Art lessons.

We started by drawing any toys we wanted to. Princess dolls, rockets and trains were the most popular.

Then we drew what we thought a teddy looked like on our whiteboards.

After that we practised drawing a teddy in more detail, making him furry, by using zig-zag lines.

We then practised drawing our teddies on paper, here are some of our sketches, which we practised and tried to improve each time.

This week we could still remember how to draw the teddy we did the week before, so we tried drawing a different one.

We're GREAT at making them look furry and some of us even made our teddies look really old by adding stitches and patches.

Then we looked at some of Gwen John's pictures. She often sketched cats, before putting a quick paint wash over them like this:

We didn't want to do cats like her we wanted to do some TEDDIES! We use some special soft, chunky granite pencils and a quick brown paint wash to try create some in the style of Gwen John.

Here are some of Kingfisher's teddies, which they also showed in their assembly to their parents yesterday.

Meanwhile on South Site, they we also 'teddy' to rumble, practising drawing teddies, making them furry and applying their washes.
