Farewell William Morris

Year 4 said goodbye to William Morris this week, completing their final pieces of work AND going to visit the William Morris Gallery.

As it was also Go Green week it seemed apt to investigate the colour of nature - green! We looked at what tint and shade meant and how adding white and black paint created a new green, as well as experimenting with adding more yellow or blue when mixing our green paint.

After creating our own green colour charts we then used all our different types of green to create an explosion picture.

Check out all our different greens! (We found adding black to create a shade of green was the hardest as you had to just add a tiny amount; similarly when adding any blue you had to be really careful)

Meanwhile having studied William Morris' intricate designs some of us also created our own clay tiles, carving out our patterns while they were wet, then painting them with acrylic paint when they were dry.

Finally we all went to the William Morris Gallery, sharing what we had already learn and finding out even more, as well as doing some sketching in Lloyd's Park, just like mini William Morrises!
