Stained Glass Window Butterflies and Instant Art!

This week we said goodbye to spiders and hello to a new mini beast, with a completely different favourite artist.

Damien Hirst uses a lot of butterflies in his artwork. We looked at some of his butterfly stained glass windows......

.....before starting on our own large scale window. First we practised drawing butterflies (we are very good at this as this was the creature we used during our Big Draw.

However, as we needed our butterflies to be quite 'uniform' to create more of a stained glass effect, we used a template, so we all had the same outline, before creating our own designs and colour combinations inside.

To finish our mini beast Art topic we worked in groups to create some instant mini beast landscapes on rolls of brown paper using black pens to produce some impressive instant art!

Watch how our scenes built up from a single horizontal line across the bottom of the pater to show where the ground is!

We then walked round and posted comments on each others picture about what we liked and why.

Our finished instant Art and first reviews!!
