She is particularly famous for her studies of butterflies and their life cycles. So after a quick look at the amazing Monarch butterfly, we set to work.
We tried a new technique to draw our butterflies - paint and print. Something that Andy Warhol occasionally did.
It mean that we had to paint our butterfly in different sections with black paint - using quick, light brushstrokes. Then fold our paper to get the mirror image on the other side. We
We had one trial run, before completing our own butterflies and markings at our own pace.
After they dried we learnt a little about analogous colours - the ones that sit next to each other on the colour wheel and are best friends.
We didn't have a full set of colours, so after making our own mini colour wheels with our pots of oil pastels, we each chose 3 analogous colours to shade in our butterflies. Some of us blended the colours together, others used them in blocks or did a mixture of both.
We all agreed that analogous colours work particularly well together!
Finally, once they were cut out, our butterflies took flight around the room!
