Super Sketchers

Year 2 are building up to doing a large scale hot and cold coloured still life, so this week they were practising their sketching techniques in their sketchbooks - remembering the hatching and cross hatching they did for their Aboriginal Rarrk pictures before half term.

We started with some simple apple and ball shapes, using some hatching and cross-hatching techniques to shade them.

Then we attempted a trickier bowl of fruit

After that we looked at the master of hatching and cross hatching the artist Morandi.

Inspired by him, we looked at this still life photograph of some bottles and a bowl and practised drawing our own version, shading it accurately as well as adding a horizon ('excuse me!') line

We used the idea of a still life scene to start planning our hot and cold still life pictures for next week.

We certainly packed a lot into our lesson - check back next week to see how we got on with our final pieces.
