Early Man #1

Year 3 got prepared for their next topic - The Stone Age - in their final Art lesson last half term, by creating some cave painting inspired backing paper for their new displays.

Having had a brief look at cave painting (we'll be returning to the subject in more detail next have term), we set to work.

In our groups we sponge painted different layers of earthy colours for our cave walls.

When these were completed, we drew around our hands, chalked them in, then outlined them in dark brown soft pastels, finally smudging them for the effect we wanted.

Here are a couple of our finished backgrounds, just waiting to be filled with all the new things we are going to learn next half term!
