GREEN, GREEN And More GREEN!

Year 1 have just started their new topic - Rainforests and to complement it they are doing some jungle-inspired Art this half term.

For our warm-up we all drew what we thought a jungle/rainforest might look like and what creatures we thought would live there.

Rose was particularly proud of her jungle!

We then looked at the famous Henri Rousseau painting - Surprised! This week we focused on his use of colour, particularly all the different types of green he used.

We learnt two new Art terms:
However this week we were just focusing on making our greens lighter, by mixing in some white to create tints.

We carefully painted lines of different greens, gradually getting lighter and lighter.... We also practised holding our paintbrushes more like a pencil so we had more control over them.

As our painted dried, we all joined forces to create a giant jungle picture.

Finally, all our different greens were cut and mounted after they dried, or turned into leaves to make our class rooms very GREEN and jungle-like!
