Dexterous Dots!

Year 2 have continued learning about Australian Aboriginal Art by looking at 'dot pictures'

First we looked at some different symbols that the Aboriginal people used inter pictures to represent different places that had been to on their journeys.

We then looked at how they created their journeys and the things that they saw in their pictures.

We went on to practise drawing some symbols ourselves then building up the dots around them. For our trial run in our sketchbooks we used the tips of marker pens, practising keeping a small gap between each of our dots.

The following week, we used paint, the circular rubber end of a pencil and A5 black card to create our final dot pictures. We dipped the top of the rubber in the paint and dabbed one dot on the paper. The paint bounces up to create a little mount.
