You've Got To Move It - The Exhibition!

It was a tricky challenge this week, to show MOVEMENT in your art, but MG Art Club certainly rose to it..... In fact they ran, swam, jumped, danced, dived, spun and skated!
Thank you all so much for getting involved.
Click below to watch this week's exhibition video. Scroll down after that to find out a little more detail about the artists and their pictures, which in this section remain still so you can get a closer look.
Enjoy!

You’ve Got To Move IT! from Art@MG on Vimeo.

Martyna - Mallard

Martyna's great movement picture shows a horse rearing up, by  drawing image again and again, but moving it slightly.
The background colours also give a sense of movement and spinning.

Ms Harris

This is the first time Ms Harris has attempted to draw a person moving, or in this case swimming. She painted her picture in watercolours, adding simple white movement lines.

Danil - Goldfinch

Danil's dancing figures are full of movement. Like Keith Haring, he used some simple cartoon lines around them to show this.
He set his picture, appropriately, in a disco with flashing coloured lights all around.

Elizaveta - Kingfisher

"I drew an ice skater because it's my hobby".
Elizaveta, has clearly shown her figure moving forwards across the ice, but she has also, very cleverly drawn some marks on the ice where the skater has been - can you spot them?

Senna - Magpie

Senna's movement picture jumps off the page with her use of the stencil technique and bright, vibrant colours. Her added white lines also highlight movement.
What is the dog in the bottom left-hand corner doing?

Lyna - Nursery

Lyna's disco is certainly jumping with activity. She has drawn her figures dancing and having a great time under the disco lights.

Rose

Rose has drawn a delicate picture using soft pastels to give her ballerina a sense of gentle, swirling movement.
How are Rose's movement lines different to Keith Haring's?

Jakub - Woodpecker

Jakub's dancing figures can certainly feel the beat from the tips of their fingers to their toes, as he has shown from his movement lines.

Max - Waxwing

Max has taken a picture of himself in a tuck dive and used it as a template to show him tumbling through the air. He then worked on colour combinations for his finished piece on the computer. Purple and yellow, being a great final choice as they are complementary colours so make each other stand out. His picture could work either way round - which do you think is the most effective way and why?

Jhael - Kittwake

Jhael's use of coloured circles in the background really add to the idea of the spinning movement of her figure. Her movement lines clearly show the direction of the leg kick.
How has she shown that the hoop is spinning quickly?

Kio - Kestrel

Kio went large for his art work this week. He has shown the movement of the body by painting where the legs have been before their final position. He has added Keith Haring style patterns and Japanese lettering to create even more movement around the picture.

Pip- Moorhen

Pip's excellent use of white movement lines really show how quickly his figure is moving, while stretching out to kick the ball. His background is also full of energy.
This footballer is destined to score a goal!

Aisha - Chiffchaff

Aisha has shown movement by making her figure lean over as if it is falling towards the ground. By joining the first two at the feet and  painting them she has made the movement stand out.
What do you think has made the figure fall over?

George - Sparrow

George has conveyed a diver in motion, by drawing repeated figures, then using movement lines to show the shape and direction of travel very effectively.

Yaseen - Year 1

Yaseen has a lot going on in this action picture from the time of the dinosaurs. His movement lines from his dinosaur make it extra scary! Everything is moving in his picture - even the weather!

Rayan - Chaffinch

Rayan drew a dancing figure, then used it as a template to draw the other figures, before colouring them brightly and outlining them in black in the style of Keith Haring.
What song do you think they could be dancing to?

Liyana - Kinglet

Liyana drew a portrait of herself still, then a further picture showing all the different ways she can move about. Her use of neon colours in her movement picture also give it a lot of energy.

RuiXuan - Grouse

Rui Xuan has drawn the earth. The ultimate moving object as it orbits around the sun! The earth moves very slowly - how long does it take to orbit the sun?

Rayyan - Year 1

Rayyan has created an action-packed underwater world, full of movement. Little does the swimmer in the top left-hand corner know what is going on below! He has also used movement lines to show how quickly the sea creatures are moving.

Imran - Goldfinch

Imran practised using her moveable mannequin, creating mulitple figures to show a tumbling movement. She then drew a footballer kicking a ball into the goal.
What has she shown moving in the picture? How?

Ruibo - Magpie

Ruibo created two very different movement pictures this week. His first was a Keith Haring inspired figure, which although it is still has a lot of action going on all around it. The second is a more detailed picture of a scorpion scuttling across the ground.
Which one do you like best - why?

Aleeza - Kingfisher

Aleeza drew a figure. She then used it as a template to draw other figures moving across her page, before carefully colouring them in. Why do you think they've got their arms up in the air - are they dancing, cheering or something else?

Jenna, Amira & Safia - Friends of MG

This week Jenna, Amira and Safia did a collaborative piece of art, having been inspired by Keith Haring's style. Their mum said they really enjoyed doing something together. Well done all of you.

Ms Harding

Ms Harding tried two different movement pictures. The first, a simple figure of a diver, with quickly drawn movement lines to show the diver's direction of travel and impact with the water. The second a dancing figure.
Which one do you think shows movement the best - why?

Aneesa - Nursery

Anessa used the manneqin template to show a figure moving. A pretty tricky feat for one so young. Well done you!

Ammarah - Kestrel

"I did my own version of a Keith Haring picture." Ammarah drew her Keith Haring inspired characters in different positions on her painted background.

Ayla - Buzzard

Ayla's dancing aliens are having a great time along with a multitude of minibeasts. Her picture is bursting with movement.

A big thank you, once again, to all our
MG Virtual Art Clubbers
for getting involved.

Their will be a new challenge tomorrow, (Monday 18th May),
