Seeing Double - The Exhibition!

Thank you so much for getting involved this week - you were all so inventive in your recreations of original pieces of art that we really thought we were 'SEEING DOUBLE'!

Click on the exhibition video to check them all out. More details on each of the artists and their work is below.

Seeing Double from Art@MG on Vimeo.

 Frida Kahlo.
Along with Van Gogh, she turned out to be our most popular artist to recreate.

Carey - Goldcrest re-enacted this famous self portrait.

Ms Harris used a small Frida Kahlo figure she had to create this picture combining ideas from two portraits of the artist.

Jhael - Kittiwake got into character as Frida Kahlo for her picture.

Mademoiselle Zanon re-enacted this famous painting (with a little help from Sasha, her cat!)

 Vincent Van Gogh
He was equally as popular as Frida Kahlo.

Robin - Moorhen did both a still life and a portrait by the famous artist. He used Google Arts & Culture app to create his portrait and also see the original in his living room!

Martyna - Mallard did her own drawing of his famous sunflowers.

Ayla - Buzzard used a cat picture, inspired by Van Gogh to create her own 'cat in a hat'.

Ms Harding wasn't allowed to put this one in the exhibition, as she actually did it last year!

The Girl With The Pearl Earring
This was another popular painting with our art clubbers.

Miss Jennings got into character as 'the girl with the pearl earring'. She's got her eyes on you...

Martha - Friend of MG used Doris for her version of the painting. Doris is a star!

Mrs Hussain also decided to re-enact this iconic painting.

Mona Lisa

Jenna - Friend of MG took on the role of the Mona Lisa. Nobody knows what the Mona Lisa's slight smile is about. What do you think?

Martha - Friend of MG. Doris is back in her second starring role!

Mrs Brash travelled back in time to become part of the original picture.

Portraits

Isla - Merlin dressed just like the girl in the original painting and Shady her cat made sure he got in on the action too!

Mabel - Kinglet took on the role of Anne Boleyn in this iconic portrait of her. Hopefully she won't suffer the same fate!

Helena - Waxwing drew this famous portrait in the style of Modigliani, who himself was influenced by African masks.

Rayyan - Year 1 used fruit and vegetables to create his abstract Picasso style face. Can you see what he has used for the eyes?

Safia - Friend of MG used herself and things she found around the house to recreate the original portrait.

Yaseen - Year 1 made his abstract face from spaghetti as well as fruit.

Mrs Hussain became Whistler's Mother as she transported herself into the original painting.

Henri Rousseau
Meanwhile Rousseau's Surprised captured the imagination and creativity in the Nazir household.

Mrs Nazir made a fruit and vegetable jungle for her tiger.
Can you spot the tiger?

Yaseen & Rayyan - Year 1 recreated Rousseau's jungle in their bedroom.

Yaseen - Year 1 camouflaged his tiger in a leafy jungle!
Can you see the tiger in this picture too?

American Gothic

Jenna & Deirdre - Friends of MG re-enacted this famous painting of the American Mid West in their garden.

Miss Beath and Mr Neo also got into the American Gothic mood!

The natural world

Max - Waxwing chose this landscape picture recreating it in material and objects that he found around the house.

Yaseen - Year 1 was inspired by 'The Great Wave' to recreate his own seascape using fruit and vegetables. Can you see his flying fish?

Ruibo - Magpie did a detailed study of a bug from an original sketch.

Ayla - Buzzard used material to recreate the original picture which she has in her house.

Rayyan - Year 1 created a seascape with a boat and a great wave.

Still Life

Bella - Moorhen arranged fruit and a jar to recreate the original still life painting.

Senna - Magpie chose a famous Japanese artist. She was lucky enough to see a real life Kusama exhibition in London and Japan.

Danil - Goldfinch arranged some fruit and a pitcher to recreate Cezanne's famous original.

Rose created her own take on the original (including gold frame!)

RuiXuan copied a piece of art work which is hanging in his home.

Posters and logos.

Klaudia - Kittiwake chose to recreate this popular poster advertising a touring group of entertainers because she likes cats!

Tasnim - Starling used something very familiar to us all for her inspiration!

Abstract and pop art.

Lyna - Nursery (still our youngest art clubber!) used Kandinsky style circles to create a tree.

Ms Harris did her modern version of the classic Warhol coke bottles.

Ms Harding used different items of clothing to recreate the original Mondrian.

Mr Murray did his version of this famous piece of pop art without any soup cans!

Rose also took her inspiration from Kandinsky's circles and a certain everyday item!!

Detail

Finally, Rose focused on a detail from a much larger painting, but this detail has probably become more famous than the painting as a whole!

Once again, thank you all
for your fantastic efforts.
Check back in for a new challenge tomorrow!
