Drawing Florence

Year 2 made a fantastic start to their new topic, drawing full face portraits of Florence Nightingale.

They had a go on their whiteboards first, without any help.

Then we talked about the proportions of a face and where all the 'bits' go, before having another practice on our whiteboards.

After one final practice in our sketchbooks, we started our final portraits. We drew our guidelines lightly first, before adding all the features. We then went over these with a black pen and rubbed out our guidelines. After our pictures had been cut out and mounted on black paper, we added our 'lace'(cut up paper doilies). We tried to make our lace pop up a bit to look more realistic.

Florence would be proud!
