Having looked at the role of the warrior and created their Anglo Saxon helmets, Year 4 moved on to looking at the possibly safer (well until the Vikings came!) but equally important role of monks and the amazing art some of them created. We focused on.....
Using the first initial of our name we created our own illuminated letters, having looked at a variety of examples. We used the same technique as we had used for our Anglo Saxon helmets (drawing our designs onto tin foil wrapped around a piece of A5 cardboard), but this time we decorated them any way we chose, finally colouring in sections with different coloured sharpies.
The following week we finished them off.
Those of us that had finished went on to start a modern day intricate letter design in the form of a zentangle.
