Year 1 continued their Andy Goldsworthy adventures in the company of The Stickman this week.
First we warmed up by practising drawing tree bark - the Stickman's clothes. We looked very carefully at the patterns in tree bark.
We then reminded ourselves about the materials Andy Goldsworthy used and looked in more detail at his 'path' sculptures.
We came up with lots of words to describe them:
Then we headed outside, collected some larger twigs and branches from the wildlife area and created our own paths around the playground, weaving in and out of any obstacles in our way.
We pretended these posts were trees and had to make our path go around them, just like Andy Goldsworthy did with Storm Wall.
We even started getting spirally!!
When they were completed we walked our paths, following the shapes they made.
Once more they were temporary works of art, so these photos are our only record of them.
We all agreed that Andy Goldsworthy would like the shapes we made!
