During the Spring Term Year 4's Art was based around their Express Yourself and Anthony Browne's Zoo topic. This gave us lots of Art opportunities.
The children started by doing a zentange of their first initial:
We then focused on what 'expressionism' meant and trying to show that 'lines had feelings' through our choices of direction, shape, thickness and colour:
We investigated the work of Paul Klee and how he applied his own rules, which determined the picture that he created:
We used some of these ideas to create our own abstract expressionism pictures in a variety of media......photos to follow!
We moved on to looking at the work of Anthony Browne and using his book Changes, investigated how he 'morphs' everyday objects into something else:
This lead us onto looking at one of his influences - Rene Magritte. Before we tried our own False Mirror pictures, we practised drawing some realistic eyes - some or us used pencil and some charcoal and chalk:
