Past Adventures #13

In the Summer Term Year 3 went all Stone Age, so during one session we made our own prehistoric paint, using soil and vegetable then we 'cave-painted' with gusto - it must have been pretty messy being a Stone Age artist!!

We then linked how Stone Age cave painters used stencils to the work of Keith Haring, creating our own stencils in his style,
using chalk pastels.

We ended the year with a topic on London, returning to the work of the Impressionists that we looked at earlier in the year, we did our own versions of Monet's View From Waterloo Bridge using charcoal and chalk. We were also trying to show perspective by making things in the foreground darker and using a lighter background.

We also looked at the iconic buildings that we associate with the London skyline. Having practised drawing skylines in our sketchbooks, we then used our ideas to create chalk and wax crayon print pictures:

Finally, we looked at how to create reflections using oil pastels and paint washes to create our future cities by the Thames. This is what they looked like pre-wash. We drew the outlines of our buildings in a black sharpie, then used oil pastels for the lights, stars, moon and reflections:

We then covered our pictures with different coloured washes:
