This week Year 3 Camera Club had fun in the sun, taking some great shadow shots. Summer has arrived and our Super Snappers were there to capture it!

Arts Trail 2017 - Full STEAM Ahead!
It has been full STEAM ahead at MG as we prepare for this Year's E17 Art's Trail.
We've looked around the school to find as many recycled things as we can: cardboard boxes, old scraps of wood, polystyrene packaging, unwanted scraps of tissue paper, pebbles, old newspapers, pieces of fabric, those last drops of paint that people always leave in the bottles, paperclips.......then we've put them to good use to create our contributions to this years E17 Art's Trail.
Year 3 on NS focused on making some very large scale-scale houses, with a Mini Holland theme, painting them in the style of the Dutch artists Van Gogh and Mondrian.
Year 5 focused on the amazing ingenuity of the Vikings, making a large scale longboat with a chicken wire frame through which they knotted scarps of newspaper and fabric, before strengthening it with a mod roc base. They have also designed and made Viking shields and helmets.Fantastic teamwork and true Viking spirit, got it all finished ahead of schedule!
Year 3 add some finishing touches to their houses.....
Then we moved things outside to varnish them and get an idea where they might be placed - a sort of 'Trial Trail'-such a sunny, hot day meant quick drying.
Due to the weather reports for heavy rain over the Bank Holiday, they've all gone back inside for safe keeping, but will be out and officially unveiled along with all the other amazing pieces on Monday 5th June - come by and have look!
Pictures of all the completed art works, including Year 6 and South Site will be uploaded soon, so please check back!

Year 2 have focused on bridges, creating them in a variety of ways, using a range of materials - this colourful cardboard one will eventually be covered with scraps of brights coloured paper, its and tin foil, with some decorated plastic bottles to finish it off.
