Roooooaaaarrrrr!

Year 1 continued their jungle adventures this week, looking at tigers. First we spoke a little about the tiger in Rousseau's famous 'Surprised' painting, before drawing our own prowling tigers in the jungles our warm-up.

(Miss Harper was very proud of her jungle picture!)

Then we practised drawing a sitting tiger, that looked a little like the illustrations in 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea'.

Our first step by step drawings....

Our all by ourselves drawings.....

We're 'tigered' out!!

We then began our large tiger in the jungle pictures. First we reminded ourselves about how we showed light and shade with our grass when we did our ladybird prints last term before trying to do the same with some grass and leaves to give our picture a border. We used oil pastels for this part.

Then we drew our tigers right in the middle, going over them with a black sharpie, so we could still see our lines after we painted.

Finally we set to work painting our tigers very carefully - South Site are a little ahead, so have finished painting their tigers, so just need to  outline them, give them a pattern if they haven't already, add any more plants and paint the sky.
Check back next week to see our finished ones!

We also put our tiger drawing skills to good use in our Literacy lesson when we were creating our All About Tigers booklets!
