An Apple A Day.....

To complement their Topic 'You Are What You Eat', Year 3 started looking at still life pictures, focusing particularly on Cezanne and his 'apple' still life. For our warm-up we practised drawing apples in various ways and in different still life compositions.

Then we started our own apple still life compositions. Some of us drew our apples freehand, while others drew and cut out an apple template, which we drew round as we wanted our apples to be more uniform. We shaded them in using oil pastels before creating a background wall and tablecloth.

Finally we outlined our apples using a black pastel and made sure that our horizon line was clear. so our apples were clearly on the table with a wallpaper background behind them.
