Kandinsky? Yes We Kan!!

This week, as part of their Express Yourself topic,  Year 4 looked at the work of Kandinsky, which inspired some abstract pictures of their own.

We talked about and practised using lines, colours and shapes to reflect emotions.

Having investigated Kandinsky's work further and  tried out some ideas in our sketchbooks, we embarked on our own abstract pictures.

First, we chose the colours we wanted and sponged a paint background onto A3 paper. While that was drying we cut out different shapes - some freehand, some irregular and some regular.

Our background's didn't take long to dry, so we then thought about the composition of our picture and where we wanted to place our shapes.

Finally, we got a black pen and added lines where we wanted to complete our pictures.

Our Kandinsky inspired exhibition was ready....
