Year 4's new topic is Express Yourself and we thought what better way to start than by creating our own individual, unique zentangle letter.
Zentangles are a form of 'doodle art' where you can build up patterns in different sections of a shape (in our case our first intial). These are unplanned, abstract and usually black and white. They are very calming, especially if created while listening to music as we did. One of the wonderful things about them is if you make a 'mistake', you can just turn it into a new pattern!
Some of us had tried zentangles before as an extra piece of work if we had finished our illuminated letters last half term. However we never got change to finish them.
For some of us, it was our very first attempt. Before we started on paper, using a black pen, we practised drawing the outline of our letters on our whiteboards to ensure they would be big enough.
Then we set to work on paper. Some of us created all our own patterns, while others looked to some typical entangle designs for inspiration.
Check back next week to see what they look like when they're all finished and displayed!
....And they're up!
Very effective!
