World War II Art

Last half term Year 6 studied World War II and produced some great art work to accompany it.

They created their Blitz pictures by first colouring a pastel background in fiery colours, then cutting and sticking black paper to represent the buildings. Some addd some strips of light for the searchlights.

They also looked at the World War II art work of Henry Moore, focusing on his 'shelter drawings' before creating their own in his style using charcoal and chalk.

Examples of Henry Moore's sketches:

They also looked at the art of the propaganda poster, before producing their own.

Finally, they had a brief look at 1940's Christmas Cards, replicating them in their sketchbooks.
