Design A Brooch For Boudicca!

Year 3 have started their new topic on The Romans, so this week they looked at pre-Roman art in Britain inspired by Celtic patterns, before going on to design a brooch for perhaps the most famous Celt - Boudicca, who the Romans will soon be getting to know.

We practised a variety of Celtic patterns in our sketchbooks, before designing our own Celtic inspired brooch for Boudicca to wear. We folded some tin foil round a disc of cardboard and then drew our pattern onto the foil carefully.

After that we used Sharpies to colour in parts of our pattern, making sure we left some of the foil silver, so it still looked liked a metal brooch.

Some of our finished brooches - we feel Boudicca would have liked them & worn them proudly into battle with the Romans!
