Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr........

Year 2's topic this half term is Explorers. They have looked at Robert Falcon Scott, so to tie in with that and their study different climates they did some Polar Art!

For our warm-up, we practised drawing simple cartoon polar bears and penguins, trying to overlap them, having some in front and some behind.

Then we talked about the climate were each of these creatures live and exactly where they live.

We briefly discussed the colours associated with hot and cold climates, focusing specifically on cold colours this week.

Then we set about creating our polar bear and penguin pictures using a combination of charcoal, chalk & oil pastels, using soft pastels for our frozen, cold backgrounds. We did our polar bears on A5 black sugar paper & our penguins on A5 cartridge paper.

Here are our finished ones:

They are all now proudly displayed around our classrooms - polar bears at the top of our maps in the Arctic, penguins at the bottom in Antarctica!
