Snappity-Snap-Snap

This week Year 1 looked at crocodiles and learnt some more Art vocabulary.

First we all drew what we thought a crocodile looked like, using some pictures to help us if we needed.

Rose and her partner were very pleased with their crocs!

We then looked at pictures of real crocodiles and the illustrations of Quentin Blake in the Enormous Crocodile to talk about the shapes we could see.....

....before learning some new words to describe shapes in art .

After that we drew some freeform and geometric crocodiles - using geometric shapes for the body and head and freeform for the tail.

Mr Saunders was particularly proud of his shape crocodile!

We were all very good at spotting geometric and freeform shapes so quickly moved onto drawing our own crocodiles on long strips of cartridge paper. We drew them in pencil, going over our lines with a black Sharpie before painting them in different greens.

Here are some of our finished ones, which are now all round our classrooms, so watch where you stand in case they nip your toes!!

Can you spot our use of geometric and freeform shapes!
