Over the last couple of weeks Year 1 have been working on some tiger in the jungle pictures. Having looked at the colours in Rousseau's famous painting, we started focusing on the tiger.
First we all drew what we thought a tiger in the jungle might look like.
Rose was especially pleased with her tiger!
Then we all practised drawing a sitting tiger.
Soon we were drawing tiger after tiger....
Roooooaaaaarrrrr.....
More rooooaaaarrrrring.....
Having practised our tiger drawing, we moved onto creating the background of of our picture. We drew leaves and grass remembering our blending technique we use for our blades of grass in our ladybird pictures last half term. We used light green, dark green and yellow oil pastels.
When we finished, some of us went on to practising drawing large tigers for the following week.
The next week, we all had a go at drawing a tiger, to see if we could remember how to do it.Yep we could!!
More roooooaaaaarrrrring!!
Mr Saunders was very proud of his tiger too!
We were all tiger drawing experts, so set about drawing our large tigers in the middle of our pieces of paper.
We then went over our pencil lines with a black Sharpie, so we could clearly see where to paint.
Finally we got painting, taking care not to use too much paint.
After a quick blue sky paint wash they were ready....
