Year 4 on SS were lucky enough to work with the Artist Jacques Nimki on a project that he is doing as part of Wetlands Contemporary with Walthamstow Wetlands - Wetlands Florilegium.
He is installing a new work in the Engine House. He has created models of plants in card paper and vinyl which will be placed in the Swift Tower and on the mezzanine. In the Swift Tower the sculptural forms will give the impression of delicate and intricate plants with tendrils descending the brick walls. This will also form part of the Chelsea (Flower Show) Fringe Festival Wetlands Botanical Sculpture Trail.
Here are some examples of Jacques Nimki's work.....
...... as well as a similar project he did in another school.
Last week Swallows and Swans got a slice of the action and the pieces that they created will be added to the Wetlands exhibition.
Having done some observational drawings of 'weeds'. they went over then with black pens, using them as an outline for their tissue and glue pieces.
Next week Swans and Swallows are heading off to the Walthamstow Wetlands to continue the project - check back next week to see how they got on!
The Chelsea Fringe Festival Wetlands Botanical Sculpture Trail begins on Sunday May 27th - Look out for Year 4's contribution!
