Finger Printastic! (To Bee Or Not To Bee)

Last week, Year 1 bid a fond farewell to all things spidery as there was a new mini beast in town....

We warmed up by drawing some simple honey bees...

....before learning the names and looking closely at the tools of our trade today - our fingers!

We practised our finger printing skills by turning simple finger prints into different creatures using a fine black pen (we're going to use these thin practice sheets as bookmarks)

Then we moved on to creating some bee scenes - we all agreed they liked colourful flowers so we created a garden setting for them first.

Then we used yellow printing ink for our bees, adding their markings with a fine black pen, before using a soft dab of black ink for their wings.

Some of our finished scenes.

Once again a big thank you to Jemima Maidment and Marion Deuchars for her fabulous Let's Make Some Great Fingerprint Art for the inspiration.
