It Has All Got A Bit Ropey!

Year 3 continued with their Get Moving project this week.
For our warm up we once again drew stick people in different poses - showing where the key joints were that enabled the movement. We haven't looked at the proportions of the body yet.

We then moved on to showing movement in a different way this week - creating a string printing block and using it to created repeated prints moving across a page. First we drew our figure - either an outline or a stick figure. We applied glue over our pencil lines and quickly stuck our string down.

We wanted to achieve a similar effect to Eadweard Muybridge's early movement photo montages, so we used white on black.

We applied some white paint to our string quickly, before turning our block over and printing it onto black sugar paper.

We moved our block across the paper, some of us overlapped our prints, to show movement across it.

Some of our blocks and finished prints....
